Saying goodbye to the girl I knew, to the girl I was. Sailing safe in her sweet dreams I truly hope she finds the world she believed possible for me and her. Staring at a beautiful sunset, I thought kindness went beyond the horizon, and love was as true as the sun will rise. I was small, I couldn't see the whole picture, I still can't, I still never will, but I can get a better view. So, for the small girl with sweet dreams, the mountains she couldn't move, I'll climb instead. I feel parts of my life I want to erase, but know I can't; parts of my story I may never tell, but accept; things I didn't have to learn the hard way that didn't make me stronger... and the light of the sun before it turns dark. But the sun will rise, I think that's the only truth I need. The rest is unknown, like what's beyond the horizon. If I could see that girl again and let her know I wouldn't be here without her, let her know I love her and hope she feels the same... But she's here, she's
If your voice ever cracked, from speaking your love for another that was the shell of flawlessness being broken by bravery and truth, that was the beauty of imperfection, because there's nothing flawless or perfect about love. Your love was yours, that you gave to me, through teary eyes, and I won't forget. You're not mine and I'm not yours, but we have a spot we meet at where we talk, listen and talk some more And even though we're different, I've never felt like our worlds were crashing or even colliding into another, it just felt like us finding solace we may not have even known we were looking for. And you've been really warm. Nothing is final, and I'm done trying to make things stay the same. if I keep trying to capture the sunset I'll miss the night sky. If our love doesn't last forever, we still have those nights where we were the stars in the sky. I know love is never enough, because enough is never enough, but right now all I want is to remember that teary-eyed

Those Whom We Have Lost (Poem)
Those Whom We Have Lost By J.C. Solis To those whom we lost over these past years Their deaths now confirming our darkest fears Those gone who only remain in our past To the good times We thought would always last But sad is the life that sees this too late That Our loss of those close is up to fate And the lives no longer with us are free Of mortal coils that bring us to our knees So may they be at peace where they are now And may their stories told serve as reason how To live life and to cherish what We own So that We won’t always feel so alone These are the lives of Those Whom We Have Lost For their loved one’s sake, they paid a high cost…

The Collapse of the Stars (Poem)
The Collapse of the Stars By J.C. Solis The artist draws, the writer writes And all throughout daytime and night The muse is lit, the picture framed And its success will soon be gauged The words are published on the page All that’s needed is just your name The viewers see and can’t believe That this was pulled from up your sleeves Success then comes, champagne with glee At how success just came to be The people leer and praise and goad For it seems fortune was foretold The star up high shines bright as gold For this career has yet been told The money comes, such big, green bills For it all comes from passioned will But soon the fame starts to take toll As one wonders if you stayed whole The future starts to look so bleak Even with having what you seek They want you to keep going straight And soon this task you grow to hate The masses clamor more and more And now you're overwhelmed and sore The star starts to fall down to ground And its luster cannot be
Water speaks If you stop and listen If you stop and wonder If you stop and stare Water speaks In the deep green valleys In the roaring fjords Over mountains bare Rivers murmur And the lakes sing soft And the mountain ponds Hum like broken glass And every ocean Has its special rhythm Has its harmonies Played in scales and salt The land-bound sea Sounds like twinkling bells It's a rainbow music It's a gemstone song Out in the Atlantic Every rock and cliff-face Every toothsome beach Sound a mournful gong And in the Pacific Sea of peace and plenty Waters teal, cyan With that salt-kick spice The glaciers clamor In a cleaving frenzy Humpbacks chatter And the seals bark bright Every ocean Has its sound and silence Has its colors loud Its orchestral depths I've seen every ocean Wild in all their glory And when I end Grant me a sea-borne death.

The Horror of Atoms (Sonnet)
The Horror of Atoms By J.C. Solis We’ve opened the door so Hell can return As We now wait for the whole world to burn We’ve now become our own Angels of Death As We await the day of our last breath We now hold something only God should own For We can now have the whole world be blown To use the atom this way serves no gain For We have opened the gateway of pain Why must We always find ourselves to hate? Why did this weapon we’ve come to create? Why is it every day our nerves are frayed? For any morning could be our last day This is a power we’re not meant to use And let’s hope this option We never choose…
Why? By J.C. Solis Why, My Father, did I go down this path? I ask for I am within such deep pain Why must I incur this merciless wrath? Why is it this path I just can’t refrain? Why, My Father, must I suffer as so? As my inner peace has now come to die This mounting woe just continues to grow Why does no one listen to my sad cries? Why is this life filled with pain and despair? Why must I live with the burden of sin? Why are my mistakes I cannot repair? Why is my soul filled with turmoil within? Why, My Father, must I suffer as so? For I am now lost, with nowhere to go…

Soldiers (Memorial Day 2023)
Soldiers Memorial Day 2023 By J.C. Solis These are the men who fought till their last breath These are the men who accepted their deaths These are the men and women in due kind Who gave it all up, and glory they’d find These are the ones who all put a brave face Who gave their best to fight with country’s grace And in this tomb where they are now interred Their legacies have now come to be blurred For good and for bad, these soldier have fought And the honor for country they have sought Even if that fight was full of regret Their legacies we will never forget Now new soldiers come fight within war To fight new battles and settle old scores So we say to the soldiers of this land Thank you for rising and taking a stand And with their passing, an era now ends And towards the beyond their souls we send Through their sacrifice that was made through pain We promise their ends will not be in vain And on this day we remember those gone Those who stood up to challenge what

Those Who Are in Need (Mental Healh Awareness)
Those Who Are in Need Mental Health Awareness Month 2023 By J.C. Solis There are those who are suffering profound And these kinds of people are all around There are those who wish to at last have grace Who want happiness with smiles on their face There are those who suffer within their minds For their fates have been far from being kind And it is these faces filled with this woe That notes to all this suffering as so For illness rocks the mind and one’s own strength That confers weakness throughout this plight’s length For this is a feeling that We know well For it causes our lives to go through Hell These illnesses and this plights that we know Our minds cannot heal and cannot let go Psychosis, Depression, Anxiety None of these things allow us to be free So look to your fellow Suffering Man And do whatever it is that you can For We are the Dead in mind and in soul And We just want to once again be whole These poems were written to advocate To inspire

The Street Artist's Sailboat
There once was a well-known street artist Who was as clever as could be. He could make his art very lifelike Which was quite a sight to see. He liked tricking people with his art For it was all too easy. One day, while walking down the street With his art supplies in hand, He couldn't help but notice that The roads just looked too bland. If only it had a bit more pizzazz Wouldn’t that be grand? After staring at the street for a while, An idea came to his head. If there wasn’t anyone who could brighten the road, He would do it himself instead. Looking at his chalks, he thought "Why not?" He might as well go ahead. He stepped right onto the empty road Making sure no cars were coming by, It was time to set his plan into action, He might as well give it a try. He knew this project would be the best, Though he wouldn’t tell others why. With his chalk, he began to draw For an hour, or maybe two He added some black, a bit of white, And just a few touches of blue. How clever he was, for
